Evelyn I. Pelton

Evelyn I. Pelton 93,of Oshtemo Twp. Passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo. Evelyn was born July 12, 1919 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Forrest and Rozella (Smith) Shong. She was united in marriage to Harold F. Pelton who preceded her in death in 2008. Also preceding her in death are a great-grandson and a brother, Bill James and a sister, Dorothy (Boyd) Gould. She had worked at Grant’s Dept. & Grocery Store, Richland Comm. Schools. Her hobbies were sewing, making costumes, crocheting, she enjoyed camping, square dancing, and was a great cook. She loved her grand & great grandkids and her three children. She was baptized at the Trowbridge United Methodist Church in Allegan. Surviving are her children: Jack (Tracy) Pelton of Shipshewana, IN; Jill (Floyd) Compton of Kalamazoo, Kathleen (Bruce) Evans of Richland; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren including Charlotte of Germany; brothers and sisters: Duane James, Jerry (Barb) James, Verta Barker all of Kalamazoo; sister-in-law: Bev James of Lansing; several nieces and nephews. Friends are being received at the funeral home, Sunday 3-6 pm, where services will be held Monday 12 Noon. Rev. Dan Minor, officiating. Internment in the family lot Riverside Cemetery.
