Mr. Francis J. Nicholas, Age 94 of Kalamazoo. Passed away November 20, 2012. Mr. Nicholas was born October 1, 1918 in Kalamazoo, the son of Lawrence and Frances (Moran) Nicholas. He worked for the Pure Oil Company/Union 76 as well as his real estate and property management company, Nicholas Realtor, from which he retired. Francis was a Veteran of the US Army, serving during WW II, a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus for 65 years. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, with whom he celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on November 18, 2012. Also surviving are son and daughter-in-law Michael and Goldie Nicholas, granddaughter Hope Nicholas, grandson Joseph Nicholas, step-grandchildren Heather (Rob) Humphries and Holly (Corey) Henderson, all of Kalamazoo, and several nieces and nephews. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Thomas Nicholas, and two sisters, Mary Nicholas Harney and Helen Nicholas Grant. Friends will be received Friday, November 23 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. 269-343-6156, where a Scripture service will begin at 7PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 24 at 11AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St., Msgr. Michael Hazard, celebrant. Interment with full military honors will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Food and fellowship will be shared at the Bennett Building parish hall following interment.
