Paul I. Reist

Paul I. Reist of Kalamazoo Passed away at his home Monday, October 29, 2012. Paul was born June 21, 1927 in Charlevoix, MI, the son of Solomon and May (Babcock) Reist. He served his country honorably in the US Army during WW II. Paul worked for Dow Chemical, and then retired from KVP-Brown Paper Co. He also was a television repairman. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Ronald I. Reist in 1991, and several brothers and sisters. On December 30, 1952, he married Jutta (Meyer) Reist in Germany, who survives him. Also surviving are daughter Patricia Ingrid (Mark) Duncan of Kalamazoo, sister Bertha Jean (Cordy) West of TN, several nieces and nephews, and many good friends, including Margo Schouwburg, Susan Steinman, and Nancy Burchette. Friends will be received Friday, November 2 from 10-11:30 AM at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge, 269-343-6156, where services will follow at 11:30, Dan Johnson from Calvary Bible Church, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. The Reist family would like to thank the staff at Bronson Cardiology-MICU and Hospice Care of SW MI for their compassionate care, and also a very special thank you to Paul’s home caregiver, Sheryl Vankeuren for her care and support during Paul’s illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of SW MI.
