Arthur W. Charlton

Mr. Arthur W. Charlton, of Kalamazoo passed away Thursday, December 6 at his home. Art was born December 13, 1934 in Kalamazoo, the son of Clarence and Bessie (Gingrich) Charlton. He was a photo journalist with WWMT Channel 3 for 46 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Southern Michigan Gun Club, and active with the Roosevelt School Reunion Group. Art also was with the Civil Air Patrol, involved in the Senior Squadron as a major. Art was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Blevins. On July 29, 1955, he married Roberta Dean, who survives. Also surviving are children Karla Charlton of Portage, Todd (Melody) Charlton of Vicksburg, Mary (Thomas) Cavanaugh of Niles, Scott (Lauren) Charlton of Kalamazoo, Donn Charlton of Lawrence, Jeff Charlton of Kalamazoo, Gregg (Lee Ann) Charlton of Dowling, and Timm Charlton of New Albany, IN; grandchildren Jason Hardenbrook, David (Dr. Janel) Charlton, Theresa (Michael) Burgos, Austin, Drake, and Madison Charlton, Bonnie Charlton, and Abby Charlton, and one great-granddaughter. Services were held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Comstock Community Center or the Borgess Foundation.
