FLAG Stermer, Jack R. Of Kalamazoo Passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Jack was born November 3, 1928 in Kalamazoo the son of Nicholas and Helen (Keller) Stermer. Jack served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, after the war he was a farmer then worked for Pierson Contracting in Saginaw. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kalamazoo, American Legion Post #465 in Climax and Local Engineers #324. On April 6, 1963 Jack was united in marriage to the former Gertrude LaBelle who preceded him in death on August 2, 2010. Surviving are 2 stepchildren: Rick Hodges of Midland; Diane (Dean) Sensabaugh of Saginaw, 3 sister-in-laws: Doris, Lois, Ross Stermer all of Scotts; 3 sisters, Eleanor (Harold) Hicks of Kalamazoo; Maxine (Clarence) Miller of Scotts; Arlene (Dick) Simmons of Kalamazoo, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 stepchildren; Sharon Gargas and Judy Carrier, 3 brothers; Don, Nick, and Richard Stermer. Friends are being received Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 pm, with a Rosary at 7pm at the Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave., 269-343-6156, Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, December 21 at 10:30AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Msgr Michael Hazard, celebrant. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
