Anna M. Marklevitz of Kalamazoo, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Kalamazoo. Anna was born October 3, 1928 in Dorr, MI, the daughter of John and Theresa (Herp) Gries. She was retired from the K-Mart Corporation. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and volunteered with the Congregation of St. Joseph. She also was active with the VFW Auxilliary 6252 in Comstock. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 1980, brothers Joe, Ed, and John Gries, and sister Cecilia Rakowski. She is survived by sisters Marie Stoner of Kalamazoo and Kay Walsh of Wyoming, MI; brother Frank (Betty) Gries, of Burnips, MI , brothers-in-law Chuck Rakowski of Plainwell, MI, and Romey (Colleen) Marklevitz of Dorr, MI, and 4 sisters-in-law: Clara Snyder, Dorothy Krulac, Jo Chrusciel, and Florence Marklevitz, and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday, January 15 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, 2300 East G Ave. 269-349-7735, where Brother Paul Belco, OFM, will recite the Rosary at 7PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 16 at 10:30AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 939 Charlotte St., Kalamazoo, with Fr. David Grondz, celebrant. Interment will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery, Kalamazoo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kairos Dwelling, 2945 Gull Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49048 www.redmondfuneralhomes.net
