Joretta Ida Appleyard

Passed away Friday, June 19, 2015 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Joretta was born May 9, 1931 in Indianapolis, IN the daughter of Martin and Rosa (Miller) Dryer. She retired from Miles (Bayer) Laboratories. She was united in marriage to Thomas O. Stafford who preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1984. On October 12, 1996 Joretta was united in marriage to Richard S. Appleyard who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Bill (Tracey) Stafford of Elkhart, Jim (Theresa) Stafford of Goshen; daughter, Rose Decker of Elkhart, IN; step-son, Scott (Jamie) Appleyard of Kalamazoo; two step-daughters, Kathy (Ray) Spaulding of Kalamazoo, Sherri (Jeff) Gagnon of Dowling; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Stafford. Friends are being received 5-8 pm Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Redmond Funeral Home, Kalamazoo, and 4-8 pm Monday, at at Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart, IN. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11am at Crossroads Community Church, Goshen, IN with a visitation prior from 10-11 am. Private family Interment will be in Forest Grove Cemetery, Middlebury, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Indiana School for the Deaf.
