Deacon Robert L. Stevens of Portage, passed away July 28, 2015 at Upjohn Community Care Center. Robert was born in Detroit, Mi on August 21, 1930 the son of Robert and Constance (Holowasko) Stevens. Bob was one of the founders and co-owners of Center Medical Supply and 3 pharmacy’s Parchment Pharmacy, Oakwood Plaza Pharmacy and Prescription Center. Robert was a Deacon and member of St. Monica Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Ferris State University School of Pharmacy and was a founding member of the Rho Chi Honor Society of Ferris State University, member of the Knights of Columbus, Michigan Pharmacist Assoc., Kalamazoo Rotary, Kalamazoo Male Chorus, Board Member of Pretty Lake Camp, St. Vincent DePaul Society. Robert is survived by his wife Joane (Baulch) whom he married August 29, 1952 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Hastings; 4 Sons, Robert (Debra) of Lawton, David (Tracy) of Kalamazoo, Philip of Portage, Dr. Michael (Susan) Stevens D.O. of Portsmouth, NH; 11 Grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Friends are being received 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008 (269) 343-6156 where a scripture service will be held at 7 pm and a Deacon Rite of the Dead service will be held at 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 5855 East W Avenue Vicksburg, MI with The Most Reverend Bishop Paul Bradley, Celebrant. Interment will be in Portage South Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Monica’s Church or Kalamazoo Animal Rescue. www.redmondfuneralhomes.net
