Beryl "Bunny" M. Adams

Beryl "Bunny" Adams of Portage, passed away August 19, 2015. Beryl was born January 31, 1928 in Volinia Township, Cass County Michigan the daughter of C. Marion and Faye (Keesler) Davis. She graduated Valedictorian of the class of 1945 at Dowagiac Central High School and attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. She worked for Monarch Insurance from 1949 to 1954 and returned to work after raising 4 children, at Lee’s Adventure Sports, retiring in 1989. Beryl was united in marriage to Donald L. Adams on October 17, 1952. She was passionate about education and spent many years involved in volunteering for the schools her children attended including the PTA and Cub Scouts. She loved music and playing the piano and volunteered at local nursing homes to play piano for their residents. Even though she lived in the city, she was always a farm girl at heart and loved spending time over the years back in the small towns she was raised and hiking in Newton’s Woods with her children and grandchildren. Above all else, she loved her family and always cherished time spent with them. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Miriam Pogue and granddaughter Erin Smith. She is survived by her four children, Scott Adams, Rory Adams, Tracy Adams, Julie-Smith; son-in-law, Fred Smith; two grandchildren, Alaina and Adam Smith; brother Ryan (Debbie) Davis and her sister Vivian Joyce Bradeen. Friends are being received 1-4 pm Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008 (269) 343-6156.
