William Austin O'Connell

William A. O'Connell of Kalamazoo, passed away Sunday August 30, 2015 at Upjohn Community Care Center. William was born January 19, 1928 in Medford, MA the son of William and Gladys (McDonald) O’Connell. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in WW II and received a degree from Boston University. He retired from Upjohn Corporation, he was very active at St. Monica's Church as Eucharistic Minister and as an usher for over 40 years,and he was also an avid tennis player. On June 13, 1953 in Somerville, MA William was united in marriage to the former Mary MacDonald who survives. Also surviving is a son Brian (Martha) O’Connell of York, PA; daughter, Patricia (David) Snett of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Mirna, Alberto, Michelle, Austin; brother, Paul (Amy) McDonald of Florida; sister, Jean Kiernan-Sestito Burlington, MA . Friends are being received 5-8 pm Wednesday September 2, 2015 where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Thursday at St. Monica Catholic Church.
