George Charlton

George Charlton of Portage passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Fountain View of Portage. George was born September 23, 1919 in Warrington, England the son of Arthur and Janet (Urmston) Charlton. George was recruited as a cornet player in England for a new Salvation Army Band in Kalamazoo. George retired as a parts manager for Sears and was a member of the Southridge Reformed Church, volunteered for Kalamazoo Air Zoo and was a member of the Kalamazoo Male Chorus. On June 21, 1942 in Warrington England George was united in marriage to the former Mildred Morgan who preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 2006. Surviving are two sons, David (Marsha) Charlton of Cooper, Philip (Terri) Charlton of Kalamazoo; daughter, Diane (Kevin) Horn of Portage; sister, Betty Charlton of Warrington, England; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Vida Charlton of England. He was preceded in death by a brother Eric Charlton. Friends will be received 10 am to 11 am Friday October 2, 2015 at Southridge Reformed Church where services will be held at 11 am. Interment will be in Portage South Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army. Arrangements by Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S.
