John Michael Harvel

John M. Harvel of Kalamazoo passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at home. John was born March 7, 1950 in Queens, NY the son of Benjamin and Allison (Gore) Harvel. He was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the Marine Corps. He retired as a maintenance worker for apartment complexes in Kalamazoo. He was a very artistic and enjoyed bronze casting, oil painting woodworking and catching big fish. On August 23, 2015 in Kalamazoo John was united in marriage to the former Patricia Sanders who survives. Also surviving is a son, Daniel (Alexandria) Harvel of Galesburg; two step daughters, Melissa (Tim) Decker of Fulton, Susan (Jesse) Torma of Mt. Clemens; grandson, Riley Harvel; step-granddaughter, Helen Torma; two brothers; three sisters. Graveside Services were held 1 pm, Thursday October 22, 2015 at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
