Claudette "Kay" Jones of Northport passed away Thursday October 15, 2015 at home. Kay was born in Borgess Hospital December 6, 1935 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Minnie Reish and adopted by the late Dr. Kenneth and Claudia (Mattison) Shook. She graduated from Nazareth Academy in 1954 and worked as a dental assistant for her father until his death in 1969. On October 17, 1959 she married Trevor M. Jones. They built three houses together in Kalamazoo, Manistee then in Grand Traverse Bay at Northport. She also knitted many afghans for friends and family. She made many beaded Christmas ornaments for their tree, for friends and family. She was known as the “Cookie Lady” at the Leelanau County Sheriff Dept and they are her honorary Pall-bearers, they were very special people in her life. She is survived by her husband Trevor M. Jones, a brother David (Carol) Frank, their five children and their families. She also leaves 12 cousins. On Easter Sunday 2005 Kay joined the Catholic Church. She found her birth mother in 1970 after her dad died in 1969. She had from 1970 to 2003 with her birth mother. She found out why she loved purple so much, Minnie loved it too. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s at Lake Leelanau at a later date. Graveside services were held 1 pm Monday October 19, 2015 at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
