Evelyn May Cone

Evelyn May Cone passed away Monday January 4, 2016 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Evelyn was born August 28, 1925 in Long Beach, CA the daughter of Wallace and Kathryn (Hughes) Thompson. She lived many places including California, Texas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Florida, Oregon, Tennessee and Michigan. She was very active in her church where she made puppets and wrote religious scripts for puppet shows to teach the children about bible stories and was an AWANA leader. She worked at the Los Alamos, NM National Laboratory involving classified work. She was united in marriage to Norman Smith who preceded her in death then to C. Berkeley Cone who also preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Hill of Nashville, TN, Valerie (Michael) Reilly of Kalamazoo; son, Norman “Michael” (Judy) Smith of Newark, CA; two step sons, Douglas (Jennifer) Cone of Denver, CO, Barry (Cari) Cone of Grants, NM; seven grandchildren, Scott Smith, Melanie (Scott) Guion, David (Lynsey) Baldon, Alex Baldon, Ryan Baldon, Michael Hill, Danny Cone; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Emmy and Kaedyn. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy True. A memorial service will be held 1 pm Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S.
