Catherine Johanna Heikes

Catherine J. Heikes of Kalamazoo passed away Tuesday December 6, 2016 at New Friends Assisted Living. Catherine was born October 11, 1919 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Richard and Hannah (Hoppe) Vander Roest. She Graduated from Spring Arbor High School, Retired from Brown Paper Co. and was a charter member of Northeastern Baptist Church. On August 18, 1939 in Vicksburg, Catherine was united in marriage to Evert Heikes who preceded her in death on March 20, 2012. Also preceding her in death was her brother, William Vander Roest; sisters, Helen Culp and Eleanor Pfeffer. Surviving are her children, Rev. James (Dee) Heikes of Boulder, MT, Cathleen Search of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 nieces & nephews. Friends will be received 10-11 am Monday December 12, 2016 at Northeastern Baptist Church where services will follow at 11 am. Interment will be in East Cooper Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Northeastern Baptist Church or Kindred Hospice.
