Irene Pardee

Irene Pardee of Kalamazoo passed away Saturday March 18, 2017 at Rose Arbor Hospice. Irene was born March 24, 1922 in Allegan County, MI the daughter of Joe and Sena (Vandenberg) Bouwman. She was a member of Parchment United Methodist Church where she was active in women’s programs, choir, and numerous volunteer activities. Irene had decades of service at election polling sites in Kalamazoo, she played piano for churches and children’s choirs her whole life and was avid at canning/freezing fresh fruits and vegetables from the family garden and she enjoyed wintering in Florida. On May 27, 1944 in Allegan County Irene was united in marriage to Ivan Pardee who preceded her in death in 2003. Also preceding her in death was her son Douglas Pardee in 2016; two brothers Bert and Joe Bouwman; four sisters, Jeanette, Myrtle, Hazel and Marie. Surviving are two grandsons, Brian (Alison) Pardee of Kalamazoo; Mark (Maya) Pardee of Piesport, Germany; two step-grandchildren, Dawn (Scott) Shurter, Tina Funkey both of Kalamazoo; daughter-in-law, Valzora Pardee of Parchment; several great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews. Friends will be received 9:00-10:30 am Saturday March 25, 2017 at Parchment United Methodist Church where services will follow at 10:30 am. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Parchment United Methodist Church.
