Carl D. Nelson

Carl D. Nelson of Kalamazoo passed away Tuesday April 4, 2017 at Rose Arbor Hospice. Carl was born May 19, 1919 in Neweygo the son of Phillip and Charlotte (Mulholland) Nelson. He was a WW II veteran serving in the U.S. Army where he received two bronze service stars. Carl retired from the Kalamazoo State Hospital. Carl was united in marriage to the former Ruth Anne Wiegman who preceded him in death on July 5, 2002. Surviving are his daughters, Carleen (Matthew) VanMiddlesworth of Kalamazoo and Susan (Gregg) Kebler of Kalamazoo; sister, Harriet Olsen of Kalamazoo; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew) Selwa, Katie (Lynn) Burke, Kutter Klemchuk; two step-grandchildren, Warren (Michele) VanMiddlesworth and Jessica (Nate) Watson; 11 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 10:30 am Friday April 7, 2017 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Rose Arbor Hospice.
