Brenda Anne Schaafsma

Passed away Saturday 8, 2021 at Rose Arbor Hospice. Brenda was born December 6, 1967 in Nuremberg, Germany; she received her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Wells College in Aurora, NY. Brenda was employed as a Senior ITS Specialist at Zoetis and she enjoyed knitting, puzzles, feeding the humming birds, going to farm the farm market and cooking. On October 10, 1992 in Portage Brenda was united in marriage to Mark Schaafsma who survives. Also surviving are two children, Amy Schaafsma and David Schaafsma; mother Joyce Ryland; two brothers, Richard (Kendall Gladding) Claremont, Timothy (Jennifer) Claremont; several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Wayne Ryland. A memorial service will be held 1 pm Saturday May 22, 2021 at Redmond Funeral Home, Kalamazoo and a visitation will follow from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
