Daniel John Kiewiet

Daniel J. Kiewiet of Kalamazoo passed away suddenly Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the age of 63. Daniel was born July 3, 1955 in Kalamazoo, where he spent his entire life. He was the son of Egbert and Verda (Blades) Kiewiet who has preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Cathy (Jako) Kiewiet. Also surviving are four children, Joseph Hendrixson, Candace (James) Lovell, John Kiewiet and Kimberly Kiewiet; sister, Pamela Kiewiet; brother, Thomas Kiewiet; four grandchildren, Alexia, Matthew, Kaelynn, Brian; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Edward Kiewiet. Daniel was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Comstock for most of his life. Daniel worked at Thompson Towing Company, New York Carpet World and was a diesel truck mechanic along with various other trades.  He had a passion for racing and race cars, Daniel raced at Kalamazoo and Galesburg Speedways. Daniel loved attending and hosting family events and especially enjoyed anything his grandchildren would be doing. Daniel always lived his life to the fullest. Friends and family will be received 3 to 4 pm Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008 (269) 343-6156  where services will follow at 4 pm.
