Darrell Lipscomb, of Kalmazoo, passed away unexpectedly on December, 20th 2023 in his home at the
age of 61. Darrell was born on Nov. 20, 1962 in Kalamazoo, MI, a son of Harold and Caroline Lipscomb.
After Darrell graduated high school, he enrolled in a welding program. Darrell started as a welder at
Interkal and was employed there until his death. Darrell was heavily involved with his local union,
serving many positions from recording secretary, vice president and most recently, president.
Darrell met his future wife Lynette in high school, and they were married on August 24, 1985. Darrell
and Lynette went on to have two children: Amber and Kyle. Darrell was an automotive enthusiast, a trait
he got from his father and would pass down to his children. It wasn’t uncommon for Darrell to attend
car shows or races and become fast friends with other attendees. Darrell also enjoyed motorcycling,
biking, snowmobiling, kayaking and spending time with family and friends in Michigan and Alabama.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father Harold and wife Lynette. Darrell is survived by his daughter:
Amber (Joseph) Giacoletto of Norton Shores, Son: Kyle (Renee Anderton) of Negaunee and mother:
Caroline Lipscomb of Portage. Darrell is also survived by Aunts: Brenda Page of Comstock and Katheryn
(Bob) French of Kalamazoo and several cousins.
Family & Friends will be received on January 12, 2024, from 11 am until 1pm. Memorial services will be at 1pm at the Redmond Funeral
Home in Kalamazoo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: American Heart Association or Huntington’s Disease Association.
