Dorothy Welborn

Dorothy Welborn, 91, of Kalamazoo, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024 at her home. Dorothy was born February 11, 1933 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of John and Harriet (Tuckey) Yeomans. Family was everything to Dorothy and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports, enjoyed playing cards, reading, crossword puzzles, going to auctions, and visiting her Amish friends on a monthly basis. She also made it her hobby to go out to eat daily the last couple years and taking a road trip anyplace to get out of the house. Her unconditional love will be missed by all who knew her.

In June of 1951, Dorothy graduated from High School in Richland, Michigan. Then, on August 15, 1952, in Parchment, Dorothy was united in marriage to John “Jack” Welborn who preceded her in death March 7, 2021. In addition to Jack, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, John “Ted” Yeomans and Robert Yeomans. She is survived by three children, Kayla Barry of Kalamazoo, Kami (Doug) Smoker of Galesburg, and John (Tiffany) Welborn of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Swaim, Alison (Blaine) Russell, Ben (Teaira) Welborn, and Joey (Brianna) Welborn; two bonus granddaughters, Taylor Verburg and Sam Verburg; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Adams – Redmond – Parchment Funeral Home, 2300 E. G Avenue, Parchment, MI 49004. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 6, 2024 at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at East Cooper Cemetery.
