Frances Mersen Carr

Frances Mersen Carr 95 of Portage passed away Friday December 2, 2022 at StoryPoint Assisted Living in Portage. Frances was born June 14, 1927 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Neil and Jessie (Mersen) Besterveldt. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and when she was younger she enjoyed sailing on Gull Lake and enjoying the outdoors. On August 28, 1948 in Kalamazoo Frances was united in marriage to Milfred "Fred" Carr who preceded her in death on April 21, 2011. Also preceding her in death was her daughter, Patricia West; three sisters, Shirley, Mary, Phillis. Surviving are a son, Dennis "Doc" (Marianne) Carr; three grandchildren, Melissa West, Emily West, Caitlan Stengal; four great-granddaughters, Hailey Smith, Anthony Smith, Annie Stengal, Ben Stengal; several nieces & nephews. A Graveside service will be held at 2 pm Thursday December 8, 2022 at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Arrangements by Redmond Funeral Home, Kalamazoo. www.redmondfuneralhomes.net
