George Josiah Woods

George Josiah Woods departed this life peacefully Sunday November 19, 2017 with his loving family by his side. George was born on June 9, 1926 to the Late George and Jessie Mae Woods in Chicago, IL. He served his country and was a member in the United States Army for 20 years up until his retirement. Following his career in the Military, he began working for Bohn Aluminum, where he would also work for 20 years. He enjoyed bowling, one of his favorite past times was participating and competing with the Van Buren Transit Bowling Team. Being a Proud Veteran, George would volunteer a lot of his time to certain agencies doing what he could do to continue to help his Country. He leaves to cherish in his memory, wife of 45 years Miriam Woods of Kalamazoo, MI, one Daughter Georgette Woods of Kalamazoo, MI., 2 Step- Children Pattie (David) Brown of Gainesville, FL., Kevin (His Daughters Paige & Jasmine) Guyton of Cleveland, OH. A graveside service will be held in Fort Custer National Cemetery on Friday December 1, 2017 at 11 a.m with Pastor Kenneth Wallace Officiating.
