Georgia Frances Dann, 101, of Kalamazoo, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024 at The Upjohn at Heritage Community in Kalamazoo. Georgia was born February 12, 1923 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of George and Hazel (Cavanaugh) Dann. She grew up in Otsego and graduated from Otsego High School. She went on to serve in the United States Marines in World War II and later was employed with Hammond Machinery Builders (now Hammond Roto-Finish) in Kalamazoo. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the Legion of Mary and also served as a Eucharistic Minister to the residents of Heritage Community. She loved dogs, always having one by her side throughout her life and is survived by her constant companion, Joey.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Irene Brownell, Patrick Dann and Beatrice LaBelle; and several nieces and nephews and a special friend Virginia Jeffries. Her family would like to extend their appreciation to Georgia’s close friends Pat, Roberta and Katherine and her many friends and neighbors that assisted her.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 10 AM. She will be laid to rest at St. Margaret Cemetery, Otsego later that afternoon. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church or an animal shelter of your choice.
