Iris Iwlew, 72, a resident of Galesburg, unexpectedly passed away on
Monday, May 8, 2023, in the comfort of her home. Born on June 13, 1950,
in Germany, Iris was the daughter of Loitta Fugmann. She obtained a
master's degree in English and Geography from the University of
Wurzburg, Germany. Iris held the esteemed position of vice president at
Vladimir Arts, playing a pivotal role in relocating the company from
Germany to Kalamazoo in 1989. Apart from her professional endeavors, she
derived immense pleasure from reading multiple books simultaneously and
tending to her garden. Her contagious smile brightened the lives of
those around her, bringing joy to people's faces.
On July 20, 1979, in Windsbach, Germany, Iris married Walter Iwlew, who
survives her. Together, they lovingly raised three children: Berin
Iwlew, Scott (Shaya) Iwlew, and Ola (Cam) Kosmerick. Iris was also a
cherished grandmother to two grandchildren, Olivia and Mia. She is
preceded in death by her brother, Dieter Fugmann.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Iris's life at 11 am on
Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Redmond Funeral Home, located at 4100 S
Westndge Ave, Kalamazoo. Following the service, she will be laid to rest
at Yorkville Cemetery in Richland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be
