Jean M. McNabb

Jean M. McNabb, 83, of Springfield, IL passed away Monday, February 25, 2008 at St. John's Hospice.

She was born in Dixon on March 17, 1924, the daughter of Bert J. and Mary C. (Hyde) Meeks. She married Robert E. McNabb on May 25, 1965, in Freeport; he preceded her in death on April 28, 2004.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Philip (Carol) Pogue of Chatham; sons, Al (Deniece) Charvat of Helena, Mont., Keith Charvat of Coal Valley, Wayne Charvat of Quincy, Robert (Dawn) McNabb of Silvis and Arthur McNabb of Battle Creek, Mich.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Loree) Meeks of Corbin, Ky.; and sister, Mrs. Louis (Mary Ann) Nimmo of Las Vegas.

Mrs. McNabb was a secretary at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon and later an activity director at Barry Community Care Center, as well as owning the McNabb Funeral Home with her husband Robert in Barry. She was a Past Worthy Matron of OES, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary , and past charter president of the VFW Auxiliary in Barry. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Haines City, Fla., and the VFW in Decatur, Mich. She enjoyed crochetting and making afghan's

She resided at the Illinois Presbyterian Home for the last two years.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Ellinger-Kunz and Parks Funeral Home, 530 N. Fifth St., with the Rev. Joe Eby officiating.
