John William Harter, 70, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Wednesday May 1, 2024 at home.
He was born March 18, 1954 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of William Casey Harter and
Shirley Lourie (Weaver) Harter.

He is survived by his two daughters, Shannon (Kiwarn) Hunt of Kalamazoo, MI;
Billie (Daryl) Nelson of Chandler, AZ; grandchild Bodhi Nelson of Chandler, AZ;
two bonus daughters, Jen (Todd) Geren of Kalamazoo, MI; Dana (Jeff Slocum) Schauer;
two sisters, Sue (Rex) Burns of Richland, MI, Julia Gilland of Kalamazoo, MI; several Nieces and
Nephews; girlfriend, Kim Lewis.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Harter; his father, William Harter; his
brother-in-law Ezell Gilland Jr; and his son Sean Harter.

John enjoyed riding his Harley Davison Motorcycle, traveling, camping, spending time with his
family (especially the beloved Christmas parties he held at his home) and watching sunsets.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Redmond Funeral Home,
4100 S. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49008. 

Following the memorial service there will be a repast at the following address:
217 E. Emmett St, Battle Creek, MI 49017

A private graveside service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024 in the afternoon at Genessee
Prairie Cemetery.
