Joyce Arlene MacDougall

Joyce Arlene MacDougall, Portage, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2019. Joyce was born December 14, 1932 in Detroit to Lyman and Anna (Usiak) Studer.  Joyce was employed by Van Dyke Public Schools for 35 years where she taught at Harding and Thompson Elementary Schools in Warren.  She was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed theater, symphony, world travel, reading, stock investing, red hat society, and spending her winters in Arizona with close friends. Her life revolved around family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved and adored. Surviving are her children Jodie (Larry) Wood of DeWitt, Lori (Jay) Yelton of Kalamazoo and Brian MacDougall of Mt. Clemens; two sisters Kitty Thomas-Schmittler of Troy and Thelma McCune of Palo Alto, CA; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  A memorial for family and close friends will be held at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
