Maurice John Burton

Maurice John Burton was born December 30th 1952 in Chicago Illinois the son of James and Alberta Burton. Maurice was educated in the Chicago school system. After graduating from high school Maurice worked at Hart Schaffner & Marx clothing for over 25 plus years before locating to Greenbay, Wisconsin where he worked at Sears as a manager in shipping and handling for 10 years until retired and moved to Kalamazoo Michigan. Maurice had a love and passion for music you could always catch Maurice singing a tune or find him sitting on the porch or in his car listening to old school music. Maurice sang in many choirs but, his greatest joy was singing and performing with his brothers. Maurice and his brothers along with other friends formed a group called Tomorrow's People. The group performed all over Chicago and surrounding areas and also recorded an album. Maurice would sing at family functions if asked and loved shooting pool and bowling. Maurice loved to dress he was a perfect gentleman soft spoken and slow walking! (NEVER IN A HURRY) always ready to lend a helping hand. Maurice even sang karaoke at the senior apartments once a week. After completing all that the lord sent him to do as a Husband,Father,Brother, and friend. Maurice passed away March 1st 2023. Maurice is survived by his wife Joyce, 8 children Donjuan, Vernita(Levi Thomas) Lashawn, Terrance, Tyree, Tory, Shannon, Meosha(Lee Lipsey) 5 brothers James Burton Jr, Eric Burton, Kevin Burton, Gerald Burton, Timothy Burton. 7 sister-in-laws Shirley, Ethel, Victoria, Janet, Jean , Venice, Alfie. 5 brother-in-laws Delano, James, Hans, Ike, Fred. 31 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren. Several Nieces and Nephew and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Efremson Jr.
