Passed away October 1,2023 at Ascension Borgess. Paul was born at Borgess Hospital on June 26, 1946 the son of Neil D. & Ruth J (Abbott) Locey. Paul was married to Linda (Freeman) on April 23, 1966 at St. Thomas More Church. They were married for 57 years. They had 2 daughters: Michelle and Nicole Locey both of Portage. Paul became the youngest Licensed Real Estate Salesman at the Kalamazoo Board of Realtors in 1967. Paul was always drawn to water and spent many hours on the water, swimming, boating & fishing, Water drew Paul's interest the most and he enjoyed diving for lobster in Feb. in Key West. He joined a local pool company & worked there for 11 years. In 1979 he founded Locey Pool & Spa Co. After 52 years Paul slowed down somewhat and appointed his daughter Nicole as majority stockholder of Locey Pool & Spa Co., LLC. Paul also had a passion for hunting & fishing and over the years he had several different fishing boats on Lake Michigan and fished from Benton Harbor to Ludington. At age 11, Paul's parents gave him his first bow - a green Paul Bunyon. That was the beginning of becoming an avid bowhunter. Paul has hunted as far east as Newfoundland, as far west as the Rangell Mts. in Alaska, and as far south as New Zealand. His wife Linda accompanied him on some of these trips and served as photographer, getting some footage of arrows flying through the air & striking home. They enjoyed these times together in nature immensely. Paul was preceded in death by his 2 brothers: John in 1976 and Richard in 1982 Surviving is his wife Linda and daughters: Michelle and Nicole, sisters: Kathy Strobel of Sarasota and Sheila Locey of Kalamazoo and nephew: Jeremy Bloomquist; Uncle Joe (Luanne) Locey. Friends will be received Thursday October 12, 2023 from 1 until 2 pm at the funeral home where memorial services will be held at 2pm. Msgr Michael Hazard Officiating. Memorials may be made to the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy.
Paul will be missed terribly by his family and friends. He was a force of nature and made life an adventure for everyone he knew.
