Ronald Wayne Smith, Sr. 77 of Kalamazoo passed away Wednesday January 3, 2024 at Ascension Borgess Hospital. Ronald was born October 28, 1946 in Kalamazoo the son of Orva and Betty (Dennany) Smith. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army and retired as a postal clerk. Roanld was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching the Growler’s Baseball and Detroit Lions and U of M football. On May 1, 2004 in Kalamazoo Ronald was united in marriage to Jeri (Walsh) Smith who survives. Also surviving are four children, Ronald Smith, Jr., Kimberly Mack, Kathy Jo Negley, Sara Smith; many grandchildren; two brothers, Michael (Anna) Smith, Daniel Smith; two sisters, Sharon Ford, Patty (Tim) Wheeler; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Garry Smith. Friends will be received 9-10 am Monday January 8, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following at 10 am. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Battle Creek V.A. Medical Center Activity Fund. Arrangements by Parchment Redmond Funeral Home. www.redmondfuneralhomes.net
